Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment Prevention and Access to Treatment Hubs and Services (SBIRT PATHS)
SBIRT PATHS is Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment Prevention and Access to Treatment Hubs and Services (SBIRT PATHS). It is an initiative that brings together behavioral health treatment, substance use care, and service coordination for youth and young adults (ages 12-21).
After an initial substance use screening, clients may receive one or more of the services outlined below.

About the Program:
SBIRT PATHS combines multiple service opportunities under one roof. These include:
- Motivational Enhancement Therapy/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MET/CBT): Integrates two evidence-based practices for substance use and mental health that support changes in motivation, thought, and behavior, and can incorporate family and/or group sessions. MET/CBT is a client-centered practice that accommodates individuals and is effective for a wide range of youth.
- Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral, and Treatment (SBIRT/A-SBIRT): A comprehensive approach using validated screens and motivational interviewing to increase early identification and treatment of substance use disorders. Can be integrated into existing assessment and treatment services.
- Service Coordination: Community-based engagement and case management for youth enrolled in outpatient services (can also be a stand-alone service). Services are tailored to help clients and their families identify and meet their needs by building supports.
