Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems (MATCH-ADTC)
Unlike most treatment approaches that focus on single disorders, MATCH is designed to treat four common behavioral health concerns among children, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and behavior problems.
Types of MATCH Therapy
MATCH-ANXIETY
For individuals with anxiety-related diagnoses. Treatment includes education about anxiety, exposure, and anxiety management skills. Steps in therapy include getting acquainted with a therapist, the development of a fear ladder, learning about anxiety for the child and the parent, practicing (exposure), maintenance, cognitive stop, and wrap-up.
MATCH-TRAUMA
A protocol for individuals with PTSD and other trauma-related diagnoses. This protocol closely follows the Anxiety protocol, but with a focus on trauma. This also uses a module from the Depression protocol. Trauma-related modules include Safety Planning and the Trauma Narrative.
MATCH-DEPRESSION
A protocol focusing on the client’s core beliefs to help reframe their thought process. This is done through various cognitive restructuring, problem-solving, and relaxation skills. This protocol also addresses engagement in positive activities to help with feeling more positive.
MATCH-CONDUCT
Caregiver-only sessions to increase understanding of their child’s behaviors and repair the caregiver-child relationship. Sessions focus on effective strategies to increase compliance and reduce arguing, tantrums, aggression, and defiant behaviors at home and in the community.
