Intimate Partner Violence - Family Assessment Intervention Response (IPV-FAIR)
Every child and adult has the right to live in a safe, nurturing home. Child maltreatment and intimate partner violence often occur together, and it is vital to recognize the signs and provide a safe intervention response.
This model combines in-home and clinic-based services and offers brief, solution-focused intervention geared towards increased safety and reparative experiences for the child/caregiver relationship.
Program Goals
- Improved safety in the home by identifying and taking responsibility for unsafe behavior; making and following through with safety plans
- Taking right responsibility by holding batterers responsible and helping them accept responsibility for their behavior
- Creating basic routines and identifying age/role-appropriate expectations helping families create livable routines and expectations
- Improve relationships through daily attachment routines by helping families identify family love stories and expanding on existing attachment routines
- Healing from the trauma of family violence by teaching parents and children skills for self-soothing and management of PTSD symptoms
- Acknowledgment of the impact of family violence by helping children and parents talk about what happened
- Planning toward a more positive future by providing referral for ongoing services where needed
Fathers for Change
Fathers for Change is for fathers who have children under the age of 12 and have a history of Intimate Partner Violence. This is an individual treatment plan with the option to add a co-parent component, should the partner wish to participate and the clinician feels it is safe.
No person shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination in the Agency’s programs or activities on the grounds of race, color, national origin, or disability. Provision will be made to assist clients who are members of national origin minority groups with language differences. Additionally, provision will be made to assist clients who are hearing impaired or have other special needs.
