Come From Away by writers Irene Sankjoff and David Hein is a collection of hundreds of hours of interviews with locals in Newfoundland, as well as the passengers who were standing there during that fateful week. There were 38 planes ordered to land unexpectedly in the small town of Gander. These stories inspired this show, distilled into 100 minutes, and performed by a cast of 12 representing nearly 16,000 people.”
Come From Away received the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Book of a Musical, Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical and Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music.
