East Lyme Niantic: Fifth Annual Touch A Truck
Join us Saturday, May 19th (Rain date Sunday) from 9AM to 2 PM at McCook Point in Niantic for the 5th Annual Touch-A-Truck co-sponsored by East Lyme Parks and Recreation Department and the East Lyme Auxiliary of Child & Family Agency.
Climb inside and honk the horn of trucks you see every day. Meet their drivers. Learn about how these vehicles work and the role they serve in our community. You’ll get to explore more than 30 vehicles including an antique fire truck, a humvee, a police car and a news media truck.
A new feature this year will be the The Roaming Railroad that will provide short excursions on the top of the hill at McCook. Rounding out the venue will be a variety of children’s activities including crafts, face painting, Mad Science and balloon animals. There will be a raffle of children’s goods and services. Even Bob the Builder will be on hand to greet guests. Crest Ford, our major corporate sponsor will provide an opportunity to have your photo taken in a huge truck tire.
Plan to stay for lunch. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, ice cream, soda and popcorn for sale.
Admission is $4 per person with children age two and under admitted free. There will be an additional $2 charge to ride the Roaming Railroad.
Special appreciation to our corporate sponsors – Boats Inc, AB Driver Training Center, Chelsea Groton Bank, Smith Insurance, Pape Chiropractic and Wellness Center, and BMW of New London and to our numerous business sponsors cited on our website and Facebook page and acknowledged in our program.
Proceeds benefit the work of Child & Family Agency of Southeastern CT as it meets the needs of over seventeen thousand children and their families annually in Southeastern Connecticut.
