At Child & Family Agency, we understand the importance of healing in your own home. Our community-based services support families who may require a higher level of care than our outpatient care can provide.
CFA’s community-based program offers four evidence-based practices:
Functional Family Therapy (FFT)
FFT is a short-term, high-quality intervention program that works with adolescents and their families who have been referred for behavioral or emotional problems by the juvenile justice, mental health, school or child welfare systems. FFT primarily works with youth 11- to 18-year-olds.
Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT)
MDFT is an effective family-centered treatment program for youth (ages 9-18) and their families. MDFT addresses a range of behaviors, including substance abuse, delinquency, high-risk behaviors, and aggressive behaviors, school and family problems, or emotional difficulties.
Child FIRST
Child First is an early childhood intervention program designed to decrease serious emotional disturbance, developmental and learning problems, abuse, and neglect.
Any family who is pregnant or has a child under the age of 6 experiencing emotional or behavioral problems, developmental or learning problems, or comes from environments in which there is considerable risk to their health and development is eligible.
Child First will serve families with parental mental illness, substance abuse, incarceration, domestic violence, living in shelters, or undocumented status.
Healthy Futures
Healthy Futures is a Middlesex county based, in-home program in partnership with Middlesex Health and the Connecticut Community Doulas, LLC.
Healthy Futures is designed to help new and expecting parents learn the power of nurturing relationships, recognize their child’s strengths and potential, foster skills for school readiness, monitor child development, and access supportive services and resources in their own community.
CFA’s certified Healthy Futures Parent Educators have been trained to advise families regarding their child’s brain development, parental support, and assist with parenting questions or concerns. In collaboration with Connecticut Community Doulas, Healthy Futures will also provide monthly educational and support groups for expectant parents and one-on-one prenatal or postnatal support.
New or expecting parents and families with children, birth – 5 years old, are eligible to participate. There are no fees for services. Healthy Futures referrals should be submitted to healthyfutures@childandfamilyagency.org
