The purpose of B.P. Learned Mission is to serve its community by providing educational, recreational, cultural, and family support services, including counseling, to the underprivileged and those in need, without regard to race, sex, religion, or national background, with emphasis on children in grades one through five.

B.P. Learned Mission provides a safe, nurturing environment, where children can grow and develop, during out of school time. The Mission offers the following services to children and their families: tutoring, homework help, theme based enrichment activities, structured recreation, self-esteem building and promotion of pro social behavior, cultural awareness, community involvement and educational field trips, referral to social and health related services, and a theater arts program.

Our goal is to provide New London youth with a safe, nurturing environment, where they can grow and develop, during out-of-school time.

  • Academic Support & Tutoring
  • Homework Help
  • Theme based enrichment activities in a variety of areas including: Visual arts, Writing & literacy, Mentoring & Service-Learning, Gardening, Photography, Dance, Self-esteem building & conflict resolution skills, & Physical Recreation
  • Theater Arts Program
  • Educational Field Trips
  • Counselor-in-Training Program
  • Involvement with outside community agencies
  • Volunteer Opportunities
  • Referral to social and health-related services
  • Transportation provided on an as-needed basis
  • Provision of snacks (and meals during full-day programming)
Working together with the community, we seek to provide positive alternatives for our greatest future resources, our children.

Enrollment Criteria may include:

  • Enrollment in a New London School
  • Enrolled in grades 1st – 5th
  • Parents/Guardians must be employed during program’s operating hours
  • Income criteria based on New London Median Family Income guidelines
  • Enrollment based on meeting above criteria and on availability
  • Families pay a fee on a sliding scale
